Printing will move to other sites in the country |
A regional newspaper printing press in North East Lincolnshire is to close with the loss of 58 jobs. Several Northcliffe newspapers are printed at the Cleethorpes Road site in Grimsby including the Grimsby Evening Telegraph and the Hull Daily Mail. The papers' parent company the Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT) said the Harmsworth Printing site would close by 2 January. Printing will be moved to other Harmsworth Printing sites. Steve Sibbald, Unite national officer, said there was no recognised union agreement between Northcliffe Newspapers and workers at the Grimsby site. He said: "We do have a few individual members and we have spoken to them and given them advice. "We are sad to see the jobs go but, with what's happening with the newspaper industry as a whole, I'm not at all surprised."
