TV ice show leads to rink closure
Ice skaters
The Winter Olympics added to the attraction of ice skating
The popularity of a TV ice dancing show has led to a resurgence of interest in ice skating at one popular venue.

Hull's Ice Arena had to close its doors early twice in a week when it hit its maximum attendances of 1,000 skaters.

Steve Yorston from the arena said they had seen unprecedented numbers turning up for the public skating sessions.

He said the popularity of ITV's Dancing on Ice, together with the Winter Olympics, had forced them to close early on health and safety grounds.
