Town at risk of high tide floods
Bridlington seafront
Waves more than two metres high are predicted
An East Yorkshire resort is on flood alert over fears of high tides.

The Environment Agency has warned Bridlington could be hit by waves of up to 2.1m high on Thursday and Friday.

Wind blown spray could also cause problems along the coast in areas from Flamborough Head to Spurn Point, the agency has advised.

Last month, a Goole nature reserve was flooded and Hull's tidal barriers used to stop the city from flooding after tidal surges in the Humber Estuary.

An Environment Agency spokesman said the high tides are being caused by wind and weather conditions.

Further high tides are also expected over the weekend.
