Police purge on gangs of youths

Police will be patrolling the streets on the estates
Gangs of youngsters are being targeted by police on a town's estates after an increase in the number of complaints about anti-social behaviour.

Teenagers gathering on the Willows and Wybers Woods estates in Grimsby, North East Lincs, have been seen urinating in gardens and banging on house doors.

Now police will patrol the streets using a CCTV van to enforce a Dispersal Order and clamp down on bad behaviour.

"If any of the youths do not disperse, they may be arrested," say police.

Successful

The Dispersal Order will run from Wednesday for six months, covering The Willows, Wybers Woods, Aylesbury Park and Great Coates areas.

Insp David Houchin, of Humberside Police, said an order granted for the same area last year had proved a success.

But when it came to an end in June, complaints about groups congregating started to increase.

Insp Houchin said: "The new order will again reduce the numbers of youths making a nuisance of themselves, and the residents and shoppers will be able to go about their daily business without the worry of children causing them problems."
