Recycle appeal for unwanted trees
Christmas tree
Trees can be recycled into woodchips to provide mulch
Residents of East Yorkshire are being urged to recycle their unwanted Christmas trees.

Hull City Council has set up collection points for the trees so they can be shredded and turned into mulch.

The chippings will then be spread on the city's parks and open spaces to reduce weed growth. Some of the trees will be turned into compost.

It is thought more than 15,000 real Christmas trees are brought in the city each year.

Hull City Council skips will be available from 4 to 8 January between 10am and 3pm and residents are urged to remove decorations and trimmings from the tree before recycling it.

The skips will be located at

  • Tesco, Beverley Road
  • Asda, Bilton
  • Asda, Hessle Road
  • Asda, Kingswood
  • Sainsburys, Hessle Road
  • Pearson Park
