The bridge will link the east bank of the river with the city |
Architects around the world are being asked to submit designs for a bridge which will help Hull become a "vibrant European waterfront city". The 3m footbridge - described as an essential piece of infrastructure - will connect the city centre with the River Hull's east bank redevelopment.
Hull regeneration company Citybuild is launching an international competition to find a suitable design.
The public will be consulted when the designs are short-listed in the autumn.
Citybuild chairman David Taylor said: "We are working hard in Hull to attract new investment, development and jobs and to make Hull a better place to live, work and play.
"We believe that the bridge is an essential piece of new infrastructure which can also be a beautiful addition to the city's landmarks."
When completed, the bridge will form part of a new link from Victoria Dock and the Deep into the Old Town and Museums Quarter.
