Children hit by car during snow

Police investigating a hit-and-run incident in which several children were struck in Worcestershire say snowy conditions were a factor.

One girl was treated in hospital for a broken ankle after a people carrier-style vehicle mounted the pavement on Habberley Lane in Kidderminster.

The silver car hit several children who were walking home from school.

The driver involved in the incident on Wednesday morning was said to be a man in his 40s or 50s with grey hair.

'Still unknown'

There was also thought to be a female passenger in the car with him.

The vehicle was going in the direction of Bewdley when the incident happened at about 1115 GMT.

Insp Martyn Barnes, from West Mercia Police, said it was snowing at the time.

He added: "The snow had been falling for some time. There was snow on the road and the pavement.

"The reasons for the failure to stop are still unknown at this stage.

"The driver must have had knowledge he was involved in the accident."

The force appealed to the motorist to get in touch with police.
