Bus services in Malvern are among those affected by the conditions |
A severe weather warning remains in place for Worcestershire and Herefordshire as further snow is predicted. Earlier, more than 170 schools closed in the two counties and many were expected to remain shut on Wednesday. The Met Office warning said widespread icy roads and snow was expected across the West Midlands region during Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Drivers have been warned to only make essential journeys. West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service urged drivers and pedestrians to take extra care because of poor visibility and icy conditions. Some bus services were earlier disrupted because of ice and snow on roads. Nearly 120 schools closed in Worcestershire and about 60 in Herefordshire as conditions in the counties worsened throughout Tuesday.
