Further snow disruption expected

Schools and motorists face a second day of snow disruption as more heavy snow is predicted for Tuesday.

Gritters treated more than 600 miles of priority routes in the county.

The council is monitoring another 600 miles of secondary roads after the Met office issued an extreme weather warning.

It said stocks of rock salt were lower than usual after a cold December but there was enough for three weeks of gritting.

Snow closed more than 70 schools in Herefordshire and Worcestershire on Monday and parents are urged to check the council website for the latest school closure updates.

The Met Office has issued an extreme weather warning for England, Wales and parts of eastern Scotland.
