Woman still missing after blasts

A woman from Ledbury, Herefordshire, is still missing a week after the terrorist attacks in London.

Samantha Badham's boyfriend Lee Harris, from Hereford, suffered multiple injuries in the blast and is being treated at a London hospital.

The couple were travelling on the Piccadilly Line train between King's Cross and Russell Square last Thursday.

Family liaison officers from West Mercia Police are currently helping both families.

'Terrible tragedy'

Mr Harris, 30, works as an architect and has lived in London for some time. Miss Badham, 36, also lives in the city.

Lisa Merrick, 31, from Hereford, a former school friend of Mr Harris, was on the same tube train as the couple, two carriages behind them.

She said: "My sympathy goes out to them (the victims' families).

"I went to school with Lee for 10 years. I hope he can pull through and will be okay and I hope his family are going to be okay.

"It was horrendous. The minute the blast went off we heard it. Everything went black - everyone was choking, panicking and praying.

"Then there was quite a lot of calm as people waited to find out what was going on."

Damaged carriages

Pc Dick Alford from West Mercia Police said: "As the family (of Mr Harris) all come from the Hereford area, as soon as police were notified of this terrible tragedy, they immediately dispatched two fully-trained family liaison officers to London to be with the family offering them support.

"Their son is critically ill in the intensive care unit at one of the London hospitals."

At least 48 people were killed and 700 were injured in the blasts.

Four bombers are also believed to have died.

Recovery teams are still trying to extract all the bodies from the damaged carriages.
