Fruit grower challenges council
A Herefordshire fruit grower is launching a challenge against a council decision ordering him to remove homes for migrant strawberry pickers.

In May 2004 Herefordshire councillors considered a retrospective application for accommodation at Brierley Court near Leominster from S&A Produce.

Despite the homes already being built the request was refused and the company was ordered to remove the development.

A public planning inquiry into the matter opens on Tuesday.

S&A Produce was fined 65,000 in June for contempt of a court order banning unauthorised work on one of the buildings.

The inquiry due to be held at the Three Counties Hotel in Hereford is expected to last four days.
