Woman hurt as lightning hits home
Damage at the house
Work has been going on to make the house safe
A woman was taken to hospital with head injuries after her house in Worcestershire was hit by lightning.

She was upstairs when she was hit by debris after the strike blew a hole in the roof of the house in the Stoke Heath area of Bromsgrove.

The lightning damaged the ceiling in four bedrooms.

The woman's husband, who does not want to be named, said: "The (two) kids thankfully are fine but obviously the house is a mess."

Smell smoke

The owner told BBC Midlands Today the roof seemed to lift up in its entirety before crashing down at about 0800 BST on Friday.

The family will stay with friends for the time being.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said work has been going on to make sure the house is made safe.

Next door neighbour Marie Banner said: "We thought it was our house, that it was an explosion or something.

"We came downstairs and we could just hear the really loud noise and we could smell smoke."
