'Green' officers to target homes
Thousands of homes in Worcester are being targeted by recycling officers in a bid to make the city a greener place to live.

The officers will be knocking on doors over the coming weeks to make sure their message hits home.

Barbourne will be one of the first areas to be targeted.

The face-to-face approach by the council aims to boost the amount of household waste in the city sent to landfill sites.

The plan has been devised to help people make better use of the kerbside recycling scheme - now approaching the end of its second year.

A recent survey of nine recycling rounds indicated that just under half of homes in the city are separating their waste into refuse and recyclables.

Council leaders are hoping that the personal approach will help boost that tally to around 75% this year alone.
