Four West Midlands prisons have been criticised in a report released on Friday. The Prison Reform Trust says Onley Young Offenders' Institution in Warwickshire is the most violent in the country.
Brockhill Women's Prison near Redditch is the third most violent.
Shrewsbury Prison is the second most overcrowded and Blakenhurst Prison in Worcestershire has the second highest suicide rate.
But Stoke Heath Young Offenders' Institution in Shropshire has been praised for its work on drug abuse and educating prisoners.
