A blind man whose guide dog became scared of traffic after a road accident is refusing to replace the animal, even though it means he is now housebound. Paul Brookes and his dog Carlo were struck by a car near his home in Redditch, Worcestershire, two weeks ago.
Mr Brookes, who is unable to use his white stick because of his injuries, says he will not consider replacing Carlo, despite the dog's new phobia.
He said it just made him realise how good Carlo had been over the years.

Mr Brookes, who was hit on Prospect Hill, said: "It was a pure accident and neither the driver or anybody else were to blame. "It just makes me realise how much I rely on (Carlo)."
Mr Brookes and his wife Kate are now pressing for the introduction of traffic calming measures near their home.
"There are two things we need - one is a safe crossing place for Paul and the other is safe route to town," Mrs Brookes said.
"After living here for all these years, Paul has no longer got a safe route to town.
"He's got a choice of being hit by a car or mugged no matter which direction he walks in."
