Anti-social youths banned from estate

Three teenage boys blamed for a catalogue of loutish behaviour on a Kidderminster estate have been banned from the area for two years.

The three youths, Daniel Lamb, aged 14, Dean Cakebread and Damon Williams, both aged 16, were each issued with Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Monday.

The orders mean that the three will not be allowed to enter a list of streets, shops and a pub in the Comberton area of the Worcestershire town.

Magistrates issuing the order said the boys are not to use threatening violence, foul or abusive language or incite others to.

The order also bans them from buying or possessing fireworks, throwing or kicking stones, eggs, bottles or any object, riding or driving any mechanically propelled vehicle in an anti-social manner and causing any damage to property.

The three are also not allowed to act in a manner that is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress including, but not restricted to, banging on doors and windows.

If any of the three youths breach the order they can be arrested and put before the courts and possibly sent to prison.

Pc Bob Fearnall, from West Mercia Police, said: "We have gathered over 60 statements in relation to the actions of these three individuals over the past year and have spent more than 200 hours working on these orders.

"Some of these statements have been anonymous and that is one of the benefits of an ASBO.

"This means that some people are more confident to come forward and make a complaint against an individual who they very often feel threatened by.

"These three individuals have been involved in a number of incidents including targeting elderly people, throwing fireworks and generally harassing people in the Comberton area.

"These three orders clearly demonstrate that we will take action, but it cannot happen overnight. It is a fairly lengthy process.

"On this occasion it has taken almost a year to secure these three orders and we are pleased that they have been granted."
