The world's largest single-masted yacht - with a price tag of more than 30m - set out on its maiden voyage on Sunday. Mirabella V was due to take to the waves on Saturday, but bad weather delayed the trip.
The superyacht was handed over by shipbuilders VT - formerly known as Vosper Thornycroft - to its US owner Joe Vittoria earlier this month.
Mr Vittoria was expected to take Mirabella to Naples - the home town of his wife Luciana.
The former head of car hire firm Avis then intends to charter the yacht out at a cost of 140,000 a week.
The yacht, which was unveiled at the Portsmouth Naval Base, has already been booked for a month over the Christmas and New Year period.
Mirabella V will carry up to 12 passengers with facilities on board including a 600-bottle wine cellar, an outdoor cinema, jacuzzi and dip pool.
Guests will also be able to sail small yachts, enjoy remote controlled replicas of the Mirabella V, ride jet skis and have their own motor launch.
The interior decor of the yacht, which involves a mix of modern design with antiques, was created by Mrs Vittoria.
Mirabella V is the last ship to be built at VT's Woolston yard in Southampton, Hampshire.
The company recently re-located to new shipbuilding facilities in Portsmouth Naval Base after nearly 100 years at Woolston.
