Three pupils treated for TB
School pupil
Chest X-rays showed shadows on the affected children's lungs
Three primary school pupils in Hampshire have developed a form of tuberculosis (TB) after their teacher was found to have the disease.

The 11-year-olds from Portsdown Primary School in Portsmouth are now being treated with antibiotics.

None of them is thought to be contagious.

Last week 36 children at the school tested positive for the TB bacteria, but chest X-rays confirmed on Wednesday that only three have developed the disease.

The X-rays showed the affected children have a shadow on theirl lungs.

About 10% of those infected with the TB bug go on to develop the disease, which attacks the respiratory system and can be fatal if untreated.
