Tests on body of 'headteacher'
Alastair Wilbee
Mr Wilbee vanished the night before allegations were reported in a paper
A post-mortem examination is being carried out on a body believed to be that of a headteacher accused of sexually abusing a child.

Alastair Wilbee, 47, vanished from his home in Shanklin, Isle of Wight, on 28 August, the night before the allegations were reported in his local paper.

A police spokeswoman said tests on the decomposed body found on the Isle of Wight last week would take place on Monday afternoon.

Police have not identified the remains but Mr Wilbee's wife Gail is sure that the body found in Cowleaze, near Shanklin is that of her husband.

Mr Wilbee, a father of two teenage children, appeared before Newport Magistrates' Court on August 21 charged with indecent assault against a boy aged under 14.

Police said at the time that Mr Wilbee, who ran Summerfields Primary School in Newport, Isle of Wight, emphatically denied the allegation.
