One of Britain's famous seafaring son's has been immortalised in an unusual way near his home base in the South. A seven-acre maize maze has been created in the shape of Admiral Lord Nelson, at 40 Acre Farm, Farlington, near Portsmouth.
It was designed by maze specialist Adrian Fisher, using global positioning system (GPS) equipment.
The maze, on land owned by farmer Steven Mason, will be opened by the commander of Portsmouth Naval Base, Commodore Amjad Hussain, on 10 July.
The puzzle is one of 20 corn mazes to be created in the UK this year by Mr Fisher.
A spokesman for Mr Fisher said: "This is an eco-friendly attraction which, as well as providing children with a taste of the countryside, is also recyclable.
"In September when the crop ripens, the maize which has provided entertainment to thousands, is harvested and fed to the Mason's cattle."
