Chris Campbell from Fareham in Hampshire used a hovercraft to get up and down his snow-covered street While heavy snowfall caused havoc for motorists across Hampshire, one driver took advantage of the icy conditions using a different mode of transport. Hovercraft enthusiasts Peter Redmond and Chris Campbell decided to cheer up snowbound neighbours in Titchfield, near Fareham, with some daring stunts. Mr Redmond attracted cheering crowds when he flew the hovercraft along the street to his local pub. Mr Campbell said it caused "quite a stir" in the snow-covered street. He told BBC News that abandoned vehicles on nearby roads and heavy snow had prevented residents from leaving their homes. Families gathered in the street at 2100 GMT on Tuesday for about half-an-hour. Mr Campbell, a member of the Hovercraft Club of Great Britain, said: "We gathered a huge crowd. It has been the worst weather we have had here. "It's not something you see very often, a hovercraft going up and down the road. "It was like sliding on ice."
