New warship makes naval history
HMS Clyde
HMS Clyde can accommodate a crew of 36 and 20 extra personnel
The Navy's first warship to be completely built in Portsmouth for 39 years has been unveiled.

HMS Clyde is the first ship built and launched at Portsmouth Naval Base since the frigate HMS Andromeda in 1967.

The 80-metre (262ft) offshore patrol vessel has a helicopter deck and has been designed to endure a wide range of sea conditions.

HMS Clyde will be owned by VT - the company which built her - and chartered to the Ministry of Defence.

The ship, which has a 30mm gun and improved surveillance radar, is set to be floated for the first time on Thursday.

It can accommodate a crew of 36 with additional accommodation for up to 20 extra personnel.
