Ten of the country's top aquatic Olympians are taking to the water in each other's boats to showcase the UK's bid for the 2012 Olympic games. The new Weymouth and Portland academy will host the sailing events if London's bid is successful.
The weekend's event sees ten Athens medallists trying out different events to those which won them medals.
It ties in with an open day on Saturday when the public are invited to look round the 8m site.
The athletes include Yngling gold medallist Sarah Ayton - who will swap her yacht for a canoe - and canoeing silver medallist Campbell Walsh.
Double Olympic sailing medallist, Simon Hiscocks, said: "This event is showcasing British watersports in the only event of its kind.
"It would be fantastic for London to host the Olympic Games. To represent your country, in your country, is every sportsperson's dream.
"We believe that this weekend will help raise awareness of the once-in-a-lifetime benefits of hosting the Olympic Games in the UK ."
