Plan to battle domestic violence

A trial project to help domestic abuse victims stay in their own homes is being set up in the Forest of Dean.

The Gloucestershire area's district council is making 6,000 available to help victims fit extra security measures to make their homes secure.

Councillor Peter Amos said he hoped the move would mean more victims would be able to stay in their homes, rather than move to safe houses.

The scheme has also received the backing of Gloucestershire Police.
