Part of the hospitality area was damaged by winds
Stormy weather has battered Cheltenham racecourse on the eve of the National Hunt Festival.

Gale force winds ripped up some of the hospitality tents and the starter's rostrum was blown over, damaging one of the fences.

"The good news is that the racecourse is intact, but we have taken a bit of a hit in our temporary structures," said managing director Edward Gillespie.

He said the damage was being evaluated but the event would be unaffected.
