Clear-up work for city river bank
part of a dumped car in the river
The clean-up operation had been delayed by nesting birds
Work has started to clear the banks of the River Twyver in Gloucester.

The Environment Agency is working on the stretch between St. Oswalds Road to the River Severn so obstructions to water flow are minimised.

It is removing debris and vegetation from the banks which it is hoped will reduce the chances of flooding in the Kingsholm area of the city.

The work had been planned for earlier this year but had been put off to allow the bird nesting season to finish.
