Work is under way to modernise an old stone-loading wharf on the banks of the River Severn in Gloucestershire. A wooden chute, formerly used to load stoning material on to barges for bank repairs along the estuary, is being demolished as part of the scheme.
A safer platform is being built in its place to allow a crane to take over the loading job at the Minsterworth site.
The 50,000 project is being carried out by the Environment Agency for the safety of contractors and the public.
Flood defence engineer Steve Novak said: "These improvement works will enable a safer and more cost effective means for loading the stoning material on to barges for flood defence embankment stabilisation works throughout the River Severn."
