A pet cat has been found decapitated in the garden of a house in Gloucester, police said. It was lying at the bottom of the garden in Carisbrook Road on Saturday morning - the head has not been found.
It is unclear what killed the cat, although a vet said it did not appear to have been another animal.
There was no blood at the scene and no weapon was found. Police said the owners, a couple in their 60s, were very distressed by the discovery.
The cat, which was 14 years old, was last seen the day before, safe and well. Anyone who has seen anything suspicious is asked to come forward.
