Computers help keep streets clean
Hand-held computers have been issued to rangers patrolling the streets of Gloucester so that fly-tipping and graffiti can be reported immediately.

Messages will then be relayed to the relevant officer so that the incident can be dealt with quickly.

"We spend around 1m trying to keep Gloucester clean so anything that helps us with this is particularly welcome," said Councillor Andrew Lewis.

The new technology will also be used to identify environmental crime hot-spots.

Members of the public will be able to report similar problems across the city by going onto the council's website.
