Eight pro-hunting supporters have been released on bail after a mass assault on the House of Commons.

They had been detained on suspicion of burglary with intent to commit criminal damage, uttering a forged document and violent disorder.

Among those held were Otis Ferry, 21, from Shropshire, the son of rock star Bryan Ferry, and England polo player Luke Tomlinson from Gloucestershire.

The eight were bailed to return to a London police station in October.

The men's solicitor, Matthew Knight said: "They are not criminals and they were not caught doing anything.

"They did not hurt anybody, they did not do any damage, they didn't force an entry."

The Countryside Alliance confirmed that the group was among members who travelled to London on Wednesday for a mass protest in Parliament Square, which resulted in violence outside the Commons and chaos inside.

The organisation named the others as John Holliday, a huntsman from Ledbury; David Redvers, a stud owner at Hartpury, Gloucs.; Robert Thame, a polo player and Bicester hunt member; Andrew Elliot, an auctioneer from Ledbury; chef Nick Wood and point-to-point jockey Richard Wakeham, from Yorkshire.

The men are aged between 21 and 42.
