'Fathers' in court over protests

The protesters say they want better access to their children
Four men who allegedly took part in a fancy dress protest over better rights for divorced fathers have appeared in court, dressed in their outfits.

The men, dressed as Spiderman, Superman, Batman and Robin, appeared at Weston-super-Mare Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

They are accused of taking part in a demonstration which closed the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.

They deny causing a public nuisance and the case was adjourned until 22 April.

Fathers' rights

The chairman of the bench told Jason Hatch, David Pyke and Patrick Lennon, all from Cheltenham, and Mark Peacock from Bristol, that the outfits were not the form of dress expected by the court.

He said: "This particular bench accepts you did not mean any contempt. But another set of magistrates may take a different view."
