Cash machine raid ends in failure
Thieves, who attempted to steal a cash machine at a garage by using a tow rope attached to a van, left empty handed.

Police say the offenders tried to pull away the free-standing machine from the forecourt of a garage in Gloucester Road, Newent, early Wednesday morning.

When this tactic failed they used their stolen white van to try and ram the machine and dislodge it.

The machine suffered extensive damage in the raid, but officers say that no money was taken.

The van, registered to a company in Somerset, was left at the scene.

Police are keen to trace the owner of another white Vauxhall van which was seen leaving the area.
