Crackdown on nuisance youths
Weapons seized
Police also confiscated alcohol
Weapons including metal bars and socks with golf balls inside them have been seized by police in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Police from Bishopsworth carried out the operation in St Augustines Park, Whitchurch, near Bristol, after reports of a rise in violence and disorder.

Groups of youths were stopped and searched, and one man arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

The weapons were seized from youths or found in the surrounding area.

A "significant" amount of alcohol was also confiscated

Pc Ben Dash said: "We are aware of problems faced by the residents, and have been compiling information and intelligence to mount this operation.

"The operation was successful and prevented what could have been a night of serious disorder."
