Swan dies after fire attack
Swans
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack
Police are hunting five youths after a swan was set alight and later died from its injuries.

The bird was taken to the Swan Rescue Centre in Wychbold, Worcestershire, at the weekend, by a member of the public after it was found badly burned in Tewkesbury.

Five youths were seen near a swan in the town just before 1600 BST on Sunday.

One of them was seen throwing a lighted match at the bird.

Jan Harrigan, from the Swan Rescue Centre, told BBC News Online the bird in her care had been badly burnt, but that she did not believe petrol had been used in the attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
