The award-winning garden was inspired by a William Davies poem |
It has been a successful year for West country gardeners at the Chelsea Flower Show. A garden called No Time to Stand and Stare, based on the poem by William Henry Davies and designed by staff and inmates of Leyhill Open Prison won a gold award.
A spokesman said: "This is a perfect natural scene, with a boathouse, pond and wild flower planting, that a prisoner might imagine when locked in a cell."
Another garden, created by four friends from Bath which had a Mini car as its centrepiece received a silver medal.
One entry attracting a lot of attention at the south London show is called The Wrong Garden, in which water appears to flow uphill.
It was designed by the Wiltshire inventor James Dyson and received a silver gilt, while Jekka McVicar from Alveston in South Gloucestershire, won gold for her entry.
The show runs until Friday, 23 May.
