A special centenary edition of Beatrix Potter's Tailor of Gloucester has been made especially for the Queen's visit to the city. The gold-bound book will be presented to the Mayor at the House of Tailor shop and museum, ahead of the Queen's visit later this week.
The story of a group of mice who help a tailor by sewing clothes for him at night has been a children's favourite for generations since its publication in 1903.
It is based on the true story of a Gloucester tailor, John Pritchard, who came to work one morning to discover a waistcoat - almost finished - with a note saying "no more twist" pinned to it.
The Mayor - Councillor Pam Tracey - will give the book to the Queen when she visits Gloucester on Thursday.
The Queen will be in the city to hand out the traditional Maundy Money - white purses containing specially minted silver coins - at Gloucester cathedral.
The centenary of the Tailor of Gloucester is being marked in the city with a series of events at local museums.
