Mourners to watch funerals on web

A crematorium in Essex is to broadcast funerals on the web to allow mourners to watch services from anywhere in the world.

People who cannot attend Weeley Crematorium, near Clacton, can pay a fee to get a Pin for the system.

It has cost Tendring District Council £1,600 and will go live on 1 November.

Councillor Lynda Williams said it could be distressing if a family member or close friend was unable to attend a funeral, and webcasting could help.

"By use of webcasting they can at least follow the service from afar," she added.
