A 200m (650ft) exclusion zone was set up around a cottage in Essex after an acetylene gas cylinder was discovered in a blazing garage. Two fire engines were sent to the incident in Heap Marsh Road, Halstead, on Saturday evening. Firefighters spent four and a half hours extinguishing the fire and a water cooling arrangement has been set up directed at the cylinder. This will be in place for about 24 hours, a spokesman said. "A crew from Baddow will remain at the scene as cooling operations continue. "A joint police and fire service investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident."
