Anna Hamilton had been jailed for drug offences in the Middle East |
Two men sought for questioning after the murder of a British woman in India have contacted an embassy in the capital, Delhi. Anna Hamilton, who had suffered head injuries, was found dead in the northern town of Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on Friday.
Indian police declared the death of the woman from Southend in Essex a murder case and arrested one man.
They said three more were being sought for questioning.
On Monday senior police official AP Singh told the BBC he had received two phone calls from an Irish embassy official, informing him two Irish nationals had reported to the embassy.
'Beaten to death'
Mr Singh added: "They expressed their desire through the deputy counsellor that they wanted to help out in the investigations, but would do so only in Delhi.
"But when I said this was not possible and they must come to Manali, they agreed to do so.
"They would be arriving here late Tuesday or Wednesday."
An autopsy report into the death of 25-year-old Ms Hamilton - who is also known as Anna Bartlett - suggested she had been beaten to death.
In May 2001 Ms Hamilton pleaded guilty to importing drugs in the United Arab Emirates and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
At an appeal hearing in October 2001, judges cut her sentence to 10 years and a pardon by the royal family of Raps Al-Kamiah was granted in June 2003.
