The Queen arrives in Dorset with the focus of the visit to view the Olympic sailing academy in Weymouth.
The Queen greets guests at the National Weymouth Sailing Academy where she also was met by chairman of the London 2012 organising committee Lord Sebastian Coe.
The Duke of Edinburgh was welcomed to Dorset the day after celebrating his 88th birthday. He was set to visit the Energy Centre in Lytchett Matravers later on Thursday.
The Queen unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit to the National Weymouth Sailing Academy where the royal party viewed the Olympic site.
The Queen boarded the Sunseeker ahead of a trip around Weymouth Harbour where many of the 2012 Olympic sailing events will be held.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will also visit the Tank Museum at Bovington where they will be met by the Duke of Kent, the museum's patron.
