A further night of wintry weather is causing another day of travel problems in the south west of England. Gritters have been working through the night in Devon and Cornwall as sub zero temperatures led to ice on roads. A car overturned in Breage, near Helston, causing the A394 being temporarily shut in both directions. A number of schools remain closed although some are expected to reopen later in the day. Cornish coach operators Webbers said all school buses to Bodmin, Wadebridge and Camelford have been cancelled for the day and ERH Road Car said school transport will not be available from the Liskeard and Looe areas to Bodmin. The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is expecting its outpatient clinics to go ahead as normal but is asking patients to call the number on their appointment letters to check before they set off. The trust is also urging staff to volunteer to cover for colleagues who cannot make it into work and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is being put on standby to help ferry medical staff in following an agreement with the county's emergency planning team. A number of social events organised by various organisations across the two counties have also been cancelled because of the weather. Diversions are still in place between St Stephens and Egloskerry near Launceston, after a lorry became stuck and motorists are being asked to take care when travelling.
