Player charged with drink driving

A teenage Plymouth Argyle player has been charged with drink driving.

Shane White, a defender with the Devon club, who spent the month of December on loan to Truro City, was arrested in Plymouth at 0120 GMT on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old's car had been stopped by officers as he left the city's Barbican Leisure Park complex.

Mr White was charged with driving with excess alcohol and will appear at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on 5 February.

A spokesman for the Championship side said: "Plymouth Argyle is aware of the arrest of first-year professional Shane White in the early hours of Tuesday, and the subsequent charge of driving with excess alcohol.

"As legal proceedings are now active, the club feels it is inappropriate to make any further comment at this time."
