Adrian Sanders entered Parliament in 1992 |
A Devon Liberal Democrat MP has apologised to a political activist after apparently knocking him down at the party's annual conference. Adrian Sanders was reported to have shoved Mark Littlewood, the party's former head of press, in Bournemouth. Mr Littlewood had included Mr Sanders' Torbay seat in a report about possible vote losses to the Tories. A Liberal Democrat spokeswoman said an apology had been made and that no-one would make any further comments. Legal authorities Mr Littlewood's Liberal Voice think-tank listed Torbay as a seat which would suffer heavy losses to the Tories unless there were tax cut pledges from the Lib-Dems. A Liberal Democrat spokeswoman said Mr Sanders had "offered Mark Littlewood a full, written and unreserved apology for his conduct". She added: "On this basis, Mark Littlewood will not be involving the legal authorities. "Mark Littlewood, Adrian Sanders and the party do not intend to comment any further." On Monday, conference delegates backed plans to make cuts to income tax for people on low and middling salaries. Mr Sanders was elected to Parliament in 1992.
