Removal man in city fuel protest

Plymouth convoy
About 40 cars, taxis and lorries took part in the protest

About 40 vehicles have taken part in a fuel protest by driving slowly during the rush hour in Plymouth.

It was organised by Jack Ford, a removal man from the city. He wants the government to know how rising fuel prices are affecting businesses.

The convoy took an hour to go from Lee Mill into the city centre at the peak of the morning commuter traffic.

Police escorted the vehicles and said there was little disruption to other drivers.

More than 300 lorry drivers and farmers caused traffic chaos for holidaymakers by staging a protest over fuel prices in Cornwall on Saturday.

A convoy of lorries and tractors travelled at less than 10mph along the A30 in Cornwall between Hayle to Launceston and back again.
