Lifeguard cover starts on beaches
Porthmeor beach
Porthmeor is one of nine beaches being covered
Lifeguard cover is being re-introduced this weekend for the summer season on nine beaches in west Cornwall.

Penwith council's lifeguard service continues until September, seven days a week between 1000 BST and 1800 BST.

The beaches covered are Godrevy, Gwithian, Upton Towans, Hayle Towans, Porthminster, Porthmeor, Porthcurno, Sennen Cove and Gwenver.

Further lifeguard cover will be extended to other beaches in the district from mid July.

Penwith Council's beach manager, Phil Drew, advises holidaymakers visiting the coast to go to the beaches where they know lifeguards are on duty.
