The building of a new town of nearly 3,000 homes in east Devon has been given the go-ahead. Outline planning permission for the settlement of Cranbrook was granted permission by East Devon Council at a meeting held on Tuesday evening.
The original plans attracted 20,000 letters of objection. Sixteen people have objected to the revised plans.
The homes will have to meet government guidelines for sustainability and around a third must be affordable.
Developers will also have to provide a road network, shops and community facilities that ultimately could service 6,500 homes.
