Businesses 'collecting own mail'
Kingsbridge street
Royal Mail said there were delays to deliveries in Kingsbridge
Some local businesses in south Devon are so angry over Royal Mail's delivery policy they are collecting post from their local sorting office.

The businesses in Kingsbridge said the move is necessary in order to run their businesses efficiently.

They said they simply cannot afford to wait until the afternoon for the likes of orders, deposits and legal documents to be delivered.

Royal Mail said it was investigating temporary delays in the area.

'Addressing delays'

In one case, a local car salesman blocked the entrance of his local sorting office on Monday when his post did not turn up at the usual time.

Roger Trembath drove to the Royal Mail delivery office in Kingsbridge, parked his car in the middle of the entrance and demanded to see a regional manager.

In a statement, Royal Mail said: "There have been some temporary delays in delivery in the Kingsbridge area which we are investigating, and which we will be addressing."

Postal regulator Postcomm is to investigate complaints from people living in rural areas across the country who say last collections are too early and deliveries are frequently too late.
