Young people made 112 test purchases during the operation
Fifteen off-licences, pubs and clubs in Cornwall have been caught selling alcohol to children under 18.

It follows a joint police and trading standards investigation, carried out as part of the national alcohol misuse enforcement campaign.

Underage volunteers were used to see whether pubs, clubs and off-licences are breaking the law.

The investigation saw 112 test purchases made, with 30 in Newquay over the Run to the Sun weekend.

The joint operation started on 8 May and 15 premises broke the law.

Some people have already been given fixed penalty notices while other individuals and companies will face prosecution or have their licence reviewed.

Devon and Cornwall Police say they are pleased the percentage of premises selling alcohol to under 18s is falling and say it shows their messages are getting across.
