Police in Plymouth are to start using new techniques and equipment to gather evidence in domestic violence cases as part of a new campaign. Specialist officers will wear so-called headcams, pencil-sized cameras, to record whatever they are looking at.
They may provide evidence which could prevent victims having to go to court.
Two vehicles will also be deployed to incidents: an enforcement car and support car staffed by a member of Plymouth Women's Aid.
It is estimated that domestic violence victims are typically attacked 35 times before they call the police.
It claims the lives of about 100 women and 30 men across the country every year.
