 Road fatalities involving drugs have increased six-fold since 1988 |
The dangers of drug-driving are being highlighted in a theatre production in an effort to persuade young people not to risk their lives. The Ape Theatre Company is putting on "Pills, Thrills and Automobiles" at 10 schools and colleges in Devon.
The play tells the true story of four teenagers who crashed horrifically on a motorway after a weekend of drugs and sleep deprivation in 1997.
The first performance was held on Monday morning at Bideford College.
The play, aimed at students aged between 16 and 21, has been welcomed by teachers and police.
Since 1988, there has been a six-fold increase in the number of people killed in road accidents who had traces of illegal drugs in their body.
